Recent news has been released that Jared Leto will Co-star in Wanner Brother’s film “The Suicide Squad”. Now – after Heath Ledgers’s heart stopping performance in “The Dark Knight” it can be widely agreed that this role will be hard to fill after Ledger’s death.I do, however, believe that Leto can, and will, give us a great Joker. His resume is quite impressive, with titles like “Dallas Buyers Club” (with not one – but three Oscars, including Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for Leto). The main question above all else is still at hand, what type of Joker are we getting in this film?
The Joker is a suicidal, maniac. Willing to do whatever it takes to bring pain, grief, and the ultimate destruction to the people of Gotham and its caped crusader Batman. He can only be described as a psychopath, sadistic, and absolutely crazy. Just some of his criminal records include the murder of Jason Todd (AKA Robin #2) and shooting of Commissioner Gordon wife – Barbra, leaving her paralyzed. The Joker is considered to be one of the greatest Villains to ever be created. With a criminal mastermind, he truly is an evil adversary to Batman. Now in the multiple comics that features the joker, shows that he is a genocidal maniac. In the past, we haven’t necessarily gotten this crazed villain. Jack Nicholson pizazz to the role, although many look to the old Batman series as a comedic relief. However, with Heath Ledger, we get a small glimpse of who the Joker really is – Deranged. The amazing performance in “The Dark Knight” showed that audiences will enjoy a delusional Joker, he doesn’t have to be watered down for the public any longer. When you stop to think about The character Christopher Nolan gave us in “The Dark Knight” It can give the biggest, manliest, man, chills. This version of the joker is exactly what we needed – and that is bat-crap crazy. (Pardon the pun)
With the new Suicide Squad due to hit theaters in 2016, what type of Joker are we going to receive? Hopefully, with any luck we’ll get the delusional, crazy, madman, from the comics and The Dark Knight reboot. Wanner Brothers, and DC need to take the initiative to make a Darker Joker, they can’t play it safe with a PG-13 . The audience expects a clever, evil mastermind after Ledger’s grade-A performance. Who’s better to put a smile on our faces than The Joker? So this is my plea to you Wanner Brothers, give me evil, give me scary, I want something to remember.
“All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy. That’s how far the world is from where I am. Just one bad day. You had a bad day once, am I right? I know I am. I can tell. You had a bad day and everything changed.” – The Joker (Batman: The Killing Joke, 1988)
