Star Wars; easily one of the most iconic movie franchises of all time, winning the hearts over millions in its 1977 release. Still to this day people – like myself still fall in love with the out of this world story. After the purchase of Lucasfilms, Disney has announced a new set of Star Wars films. The fans rejoiced as they characters they know and love actually signed on to be in the new film. With less than a year away from its release in December 2015, “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens”. This story is set 30 years after “Return of the Jedi” and is the first of a new trilogy to be released. Although the film will include our favourites, like Luke, Leia, and Han, there are three new leads to accompany the original trio. With all this excitement of the new movie can we really look forward to The Force Awakens? Hopefully yes.
The director (J. J. Abrams) has quite the excellent resume, including the other out of this world stories of Star Trek. Star Trek being as popular as it is had almsot the smae reception when a reboot was in order.
Fans all over the world love the new films the Abrams has directed, there even is a third movie in the plans as of now. So Abrams already knows his way around space travel. Plus with the music score done by the iconic John Williams, things seem to be set up nicely for a good film.
After the let down of the prequel trilogy, with Jar Jar Binks being the main punchline of the Star Wars universe and some of the more cheesy acting from the three episodes. Its highly understandable why some might be worrisome over the new film release. However, worry not my dear readers. Even though we have been let down once before, I assure it will not happen again. After the Disney purchase of Marvel, many were afraid and simply terrified that the movies and stories would fail them, being “Disneyified” after a few years we can see that this is not the case. Disney is a smart company, they know what needs to be done, in order to create the biggest response from fans. Star Wars, like Marvel will be okay, and possibly (again like Marvel) better than ever before. George Lucas, still remains as a creative consultant for The Force Awakens, which also provides some more relief.
So already, we have J.J. Abrams a director who indeed knows how to make a “out of this world” hit movie. The creative talents of the original creator Mr. George Lucas himself. John Williams the musical genius we all have grown to love since 1977. Also the help of one of the most powerful names in the game – Walt Disney Studios. The fact remains, Disney knows what is needed for this film, its a massive money-maker for them, so it has no other option than to be the top of the box office hit we all expect.
Although its still early to know what the plot of this movie will be, personally I can assure you that “The Force Awakens” will not only be a movie that you will want to see over and over, but it will bring in a new era of Star Wars fans. As long as the cheesy acting stays in “Revenge of the Sith” I think we’ll all be just fine.
